This exciting role offers an opportunity to work with and learn from some of the top industry leading professionals. Candidates will support Engineering in the development of new products and new methods of assembly as they pertain to MIC. Operates both in an Engineering and Production environment under a microscope with minimum supervision. We need someone who enjoys working in an innovative, forward thinking environment! Here are some of the opportunities you can expect as part of our team:
• Working within an Engineering environment, assisting in the assembly of new products and the development of new assembly methods and processes. This includes working with minimal documentation and/or red-lined drawings
• Dependent on Engineering work support production to meet their schedules and deadlines
• Assist in the development of assembly processes and methods. This includes marking up sets of documentation to reflect the final product build and by the final assembly process/method
• Working knowledge of MIL-STD-883 as it applies to Comtech PST component products and assembly methods
• When requested meet with subcontract manufacturers to review the assembly process as specified in the documentation package
• Performs die attach and wire (ball and wedge) / ribbon bonding of RF substrates, circuits and components using a variety of epoxies and solders
• Uses small hand tools and equipment under a microscope
• Familiar with the use and routine care of common MIC laboratory equipment including manual wire and ribbon bonders (ie: West Bond; Mech-El), bond-pull testers, solder reflow stations, and plasma cleaners
• Reads and interprets blueprints, parts lists, travelers, rework instructions and process procedures to determine sequence of operations and proper assembly techniques
• Capable of holding mechanical tolerances to rigid specifications (often +/- .001”), using a variety of measurement and calibration equipment such as microscope-mounted reticules, calipers and micrometers
• Documents and communicates in writing and via E-mail technical issues, scheduling / assignment comments, and process times. Capable of providing written reports to assist in scheduling work and revising documentation as needed
• Use of basic computer skills and Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, Access and Outlook) to communicate information between departments
• Experience in soldering to MIL-STD-001 a plus
• Performs low level testing of sub-assemblies, as well as other similar related tasks assigned
